Import Export (IE) Code is a registration or license for importing or exporting goods and services from India. IE Code is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. It is a mandatory requirement for all foreign trading of goods and services from India.
Benefits of IE Code
Mandatory for Import and Export
The IE code has to be quoted on all the transactions, especially with the Banks and at customs clearance office. The goods and services traded are tracked based on the IE Code.
No return filing
The code once generated is valid for the lifetime of the company. It does not require any renewal or timely filing of returns to the DGFT.
