What is trademark public search?
A public trademark search is conducted using the Indian Trademark Registry database. The search establishes whether or not a proposed trademark can be used in conjunction with certain goods or services. Comparable wordmarks, as well as phonetically similar names in a given class, maybe found extensively using trademark search India.
How to do a trademark public search?
At the Indian trademark database link, you may do a free online trademark search in the Trademark Registry of India.
There are three types of trademark searches.
i) Phonetic – For phonetically comparable terms
ii) Wordmark – For similar representations of the wordmark
iii) Vienna Code – For similar aesthetic representations; and

Wordmark, Vienna Code, and Phonetic are the three main search methods available. As a result, you’ll have to select a search type from the tab’s choices.
i) Wordmark Search
If you want to do a watermark search, choose ‘Watermark’ as the search type and put the proposed trademark’s keyword(s) in the “Wordmark” box.
There are 45 different trademark registration classes. According to the Nice Classification, Classes 1-34 deal with diverse products, whereas Classes 35-45 deal with services. As a result, you’ll need to update the class in the box to “CLASS.” And the class(es) should be linked to your trademark’s services or products. And the class(es) should be linked to your trademark’s services or products. You can only search the India trademark database using one class at a time.
The wordmark search can be done using any prefix style, such as “Starts With,” “Contains,” or “Match With.”
A keyword search in the “Starts With” option will return all trademarks that begin with the requested term. A search with a term in the “Contains”, on the other hand, will return all trademarks that contain the sought phrase. For a search using a term in the “Match With” option, however, the result will only display trademarks that match the sought keyword.
The Search Result: After you’ve entered all of the needed information, click the ‘Start Search’ button to see the results of your search. The table would show the information of each trademark, such as the S.No., matching trademark(s), and pictures. To display all of the results, click the box in the left top corner or click the selection box indicated in S.No. for the chosen trademark. After checking the boxes, click “Report” to see a detailed report of all trademarks.
If there are no comparable trademarks on record after doing a trademark search, you may proceed to submit the trademark.
ii) Phonetic Search
Except for the usage of the prefix, the phonetic search would be the same as the above Wordmark search method. Hence, you may use the same procedure as before to do a phonetic search of the trademark.
iii) Vienna code Search
The Vienna code search is mostly used to locate comparable device marks, and you must input the six-digit Vienna code in the box labeled “Vienna code” and choose the appropriate class. The result table will show all of the marks that contain the device after the search.
